Antique Car Show and a Trolley Tour

An Official Madison County Bicentennial Event

Chesterfield and Union Township will follow up the brunch and educational program we had in March with an antique car show and a trolley tour of the many historical locations in town. These events will take place on July 16, 2023.

The Antique Car Show will be located in back of the Millcreek Civic Center and across from the park. Individuals wishing to register their cars may obtain information by calling the Chesterfield Town Hall at 765-378-3331 or emailing at townofchesterfield@yahoo.com.

The tour will include the Amasa Makepeace house which was the first house built with planed lumber and plastered walls in Madison County. Prior to this time, most homes were log cabins. The William Dilts house, tavern and hotel made with handmade brick will be featured along with other homes built in the 1800s. The tour will include stops at the Camp Chesterfield Spiritualist Camp and the Bronnenberg Cemetery. Tours will begin at Millcreek Civic Center and continue from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

People taking the tour will be provided with a booklet with photos and descriptions of the historic sites in this area. Also included, will be an article written by Stephen Jackson titled “The Early History of Union Township, Indiana”.

The theme of the Bicentennial Celebration will continue throughout the many Chesterfield events this weekend including the afternoon showing of “The Best we got: the Carl Erskine Story” (July 1 at Millcreek), fireworks (July 3 at Anderson Airport), Pancake Breakfast (July 4 at Millcreek), Parade down Main Street (July 4 at Noon) and The Festival for Children (July 4 at Makepeace Park, 1:00 to 5:00).
